Having whanau and friends in one place is always a celebration and Toru Road has been behind the scenes creating some gorgeous events. With an events management background, Tracey has a number of events under her belt.
From a beautiful Chanel themed birthday party, weddings, as well as numerous corporate events each one is themed to make them super special. A Christmas party 007 Casino Night for 30 pax with welcome cocktail, chocolate coin stack favours, poker, and of course a roulette wheel. How about Howdy Partner Y'all invited to a Country and Western night with line-dancers, western photo backdrop, texas bunting, and a meal fit for that shindig. We've done a drive-in movie night with drinks being served by a 1950's waitress wearing roller skates, a bar setup on a mechanics car lift, movie roll of photos on the wall, and drinks served in shiny 50's car-boots - the guest of honour was surprised that night with a Cadillac ride to the venue and the roller doors lifted to that scene, one guest even brought their movie ticket (the invite). Or what about a Kiwiana Inspired Trade Exhibition conference opening at SkyCity (think beach scenes, a cricket pitch to actually play cricket, Kiwiana food carts, and Kiwiana bunting), or how about the Great Gatsby themed Gala Dinner for 300 guests held at SkyCity Auckland - Tracey sought out glass globes for the centre of each table, hired the champagne tower stand from Tauranga, got gold pillars and props for the massive photo green screen, booked entertainment, and worked with the team at SkyCity so that six wait staff wore their number 1 uniforms with a white napkin over their arm at the entrance - just to make it that lil bit OTT.
Tracey also played a major role in the organisation of Waitangi Day at Te Wharewaka o Poneke, along with many other iwi-related events whilst working for iwi in Wellington for over 10 years. Wellington Pasifika Business Awards
In collaboration with MaiTui Group our first official Toru Road Event for the Wellington Pasifika Business Awards 2020 was held at Te Wharewaka o Poneke, Wellington in November 2020 and is held every two years. "We wanted to create a warm Pasifika feel to the 25 table settings for the 250 crowd with no table the same – same but different! From the front table to the back of the room each setting was individualised and had pieces from our collective whanau on exhibit for others to enjoy".

Great Gatsby Gala Dinner, SkyCity
Some pictures from a Gala Dinner for 300 held at SkyCity Auckland. A Great Gatsby themed event. with dancers, MC, champagne tower, photo booth, wine, gorgeous food and fantastic staff.
Matariki Event, Te Puna Ihi Manaaki
Tracey and her whanau in NZ reinvigorated their te reo journey with Te Puna Ihi Manaaki at Hikoikoi, Petone in 2019. Some amazing people (Sharee Adam and Moana Kaio-Waititi) provide an awesome learning opportunity in a safe whanau environment - every Tuesday night during school terms, a lil plug for them! With a love for event management it was with ease that Tracey offered to provide the props for the Matariki event and everyone chipped in to setup and then enjoy the evening with great kai, karaoke and whanau - another memorable occasion where whanau came together to share kai.
Weddings
You only get married once, right! Whether its your first time, second, or you've made it to third time lucky, it has got to be something to remember and each of the weddings that Tracey has created has done just that.
It was Tracey's pleasure to create an intimate experience for a special couple who wanted their day to be about whanau with their tamariki and mokopuna as the main stars of their special day. The wedding ceremony was held at Aotea Lagoon in Porirua. Guests enjoyed nibbles and drinks (yes with Toru Road kai on the platters!) whilst the wedding party went for photos, and then on to the reception which was held downstairs at Porirua Club. Unbeknown to the happy couple the whanau had organised for the room to be transformed by Tracey without their knowledge using a mix of old and vintage glass, glass lanterns, fresh flowers mixed with succulents, candlelight, set on white linen with black napkins. It was sweet and simple and yet perfect setting for a relaxed whanau vibe.

For another wedding celebration, Tracey gave an elegant twist to a rainbow theme request for a civil union. A tasteful mix of colour and style was created for this special day. Outside overlooking the Harbour a bespoke colourful chalk mural was created specifically for the lovebirds on the patio by a local artist and this set the stage for the ceremony. Afterwards guests were led upstairs inside the Plimmerton Boating Club which was decked out in colourful tulle and pretty flowers. Everything was planned with purpose, right down to the cake, which of course had a rainbow tiers.
The Boss Birthday Party
You can't get any more bespoke than the 50th Birthday theme that Tracey created for August's big birthday. Having seen Bruce Springsteen together at Madison Square Gardens, in NYC, back in 2000, and a few times elsewhere since, it's no surprise to whanau that 'The Boss' would be the theme for his special event. It was pretty much a red, white and blue Americana scene, even the kai served was rooted in the South with pulled pork, slaw and potato salad. And of course everyone dressed up with their denim and bandanas for a bit of rock n roll. Many a waiata and inu was shared that night.
